66. Zorro

Zorro - Isabel Allende

This was a fun book to read. Zorro is the same Diego De La Vega doing all the same stuff he does in the legendary story about him. This book has the same guy, but it covers how he grows up and becomes Zorro. These are Zorro's formative years. It was a lot of fun.

There are plenty of swashbuckling swordfights full of outrageuosly daring maneuvers as Zorro would later become famous for.

There are plenty of adventures even before Diego is born. His parents were interesting in their own rights. Mom was an Shoshone warrior. Dad is an aristocratic Spanish military officerwas later to become the Mayor of Los Angeles.

The book takes place in the late 1700s and early 1800s in California and Spain. Much of the book is also spent on traveling to Spain and later returning to California. The adventures along the way and while living in either place are exactly what I would expect from a Zorro book.

I had a lot of fun with this one.
